I recently upgraded my gaming rig with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and I'm looking for the best CPU cooler to keep temperatures in check. The processor has a TDP of 105W, so I need a cooler that can handle the heat efficiently. I'm considering both air and liquid cooling options.

What CPU coolers would you recommend for this processor? I'd like to find a balance between cooling performance, noise levels, and overall value. My case has decent airflow and can accommodate most cooler sizes.

Here are a few great options to consider:

  1. Noctua NH-D15: This is a top-tier air cooler that offers excellent cooling performance. It features a dual-tower design with two 140mm fans, providing optimal heat dissipation. The NH-D15 is known for its quiet operation and is capable of handling the thermal demands of the 5800X3D.

  2. Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4: Another high-performance air cooler, the Dark Rock Pro 4 has a sleek black design and a dual-tower layout. It comes with two Silent Wings PWM fans that deliver excellent cooling while maintaining low noise levels. This cooler is a great match for the 5800X3D.

  3. Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280: If you prefer an all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooler, the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 is a fantastic choice. It features a 280mm radiator with two PWM-controlled fans, providing outstanding cooling performance. The Liquid Freezer II series is known for its efficiency and quiet operation.

  4. Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix: Another top-performing AIO liquid cooler, the Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix offers a 360mm radiator with three 120mm PWM fans. It delivers exceptional cooling performance and features customizable RGB lighting. The iCUE software allows for easy control and customization of fan speeds and lighting effects.

Ultimately, the choice between an air cooler and an AIO liquid cooler comes down to personal preference, case compatibility, and budget. Both the Noctua NH-D15 and Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 are excellent air coolers, while the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 and Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix are top-performing AIO liquid coolers.

Whichever cooler you choose, make sure it fits your case and meets your aesthetic preferences. Also, consider factors like noise levels and ease of installation when making your decision.

For the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, the Dark Rock Pro 4 is an excellent high-performance air cooler, known for great cooling and quiet operation.

Cheaper but still good options:

  1. DeepCool AK620
  2. Scythe Fuma 2

Budget-friendly alternatives that should suffice:

  1. Scythe Mugen 5
  2. Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo
  3. Noctua NH-U12S Redux

These offer a good balance of performance and value, though they may run slightly louder or cooler than premium options.

Depending on your case, consider a 240mm AIO like the Arctic Liquid Freezer II for excellent cooling and potential overclocking headroom.

Remember to check cooler dimensions to ensure compatibility with your case and components. Good luck with your build!
