I'm looking to build a new gaming PC primarily for 1440p gaming. I want to be able to play the latest AAA titles on high to ultra settings while maintaining a smooth framerate of at least 60 FPS.

What are your recommendations for the best CPU, GPU, RAM, and other components to achieve this level of performance? I'm open to both Intel and AMD options.

Additionally, what would be a good monitor to pair with this build?

Thanks.

CPU: Intel Core i5-13600K

  • 10 cores (6 Performance + 4 Efficient), 16 threads
  • Great gaming performance and multitasking capabilities $349

CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4

  • Excellent cooling performance for the i5-13600K
  • Quiet operation $89

Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4

  • High quality components, good VRMs
  • WiFi 6, PCIe 5.0 and DDR4 support $289

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3600 CL16

  • 32GB is plenty for gaming
  • Fast 3600MHz speed with tight CL16 timings $139

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti

  • Excellent 1440p gaming performance, can handle most games at high/max settings
  • 12GB GDDR6X VRAM $799

SSD: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB

  • Fast Gen4 NVMe SSD for OS, games and applications
  • Large 2TB capacity $179

Case: Lian Li Lancool 215

  • Great airflow with dual 200mm front intake fans
  • Tempered glass side panel $109

Power Supply: Corsair RM850x (2021)

  • High quality 850W fully modular PSU
  • 80+ Gold efficiency $144

Total: $2,097

This system will handle any game you throw at it at 1440p with high framerates. The i5-13600K and RTX 4070 Ti are a powerful gaming combo. 32GB of fast RAM, a Gen4 SSD, and high airflow case round out the build.

For 1440p gaming, I'd go with:

  1. Ryzen 5 7600X
  2. RTX 4070 SUPER
  3. 32GB DDR5 RAM
  4. 1TB NVMe SSD
  5. B650 motherboard
  6. 750W Gold PSU

This build should handle most games at 1440p with high settings and good frame rates, plus it has some futureproofing with the extra RAM.
