Here are my recommendations:

  1. CalDigit TS3 Plus - This is a popular choice due to its robust build quality, wide range of ports, and reliable performance. It offers Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, which is compatible with newer MacBook Pro models and many PCs, providing up to 85W of power delivery to charge your laptop, and it has multiple USB-A and USB-C ports, Ethernet, audio in/out, and an SD card reader.

  2. Dell WD19TB - Another excellent option, especially for those in a mixed device environment. It offers a high power delivery of up to 130W, which is great for more power-hungry laptops. The Dell WD19TB comes with Thunderbolt 3 support, several USB ports, Ethernet, and display outputs, making it a versatile choice for both PC and MacBook users.

  3. Anker 575 13-in-1 Thunderbolt Dock - For those looking for a wide range of connectivity options, the Anker PowerExpand Elite is a solid choice. It features multiple USB ports, SD and microSD card slots, Ethernet, audio connectivity, and can charge your laptop with up to 85W of power over Thunderbolt 3.

OWC 11-Port Thunderbolt Dock is a good choice for both Mac and PC.

The new released Satechi Thunderbolt 4 DisplayLink Docking Station 12 in 1 with 96W Charging is a good docking station for both Mac and PC.

As a frequent user of both PC and MacBook Pro, I highly recommend the Dell WD22TB4 docking station. This versatile device offers excellent compatibility with both Windows and macOS, making it ideal for mixed-platform setups. The Thunderbolt 4 connectivity ensures lightning-fast data transfer and supports up to three 4K displays, perfect for productivity.

With its robust port selection, including USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and Ethernet, the WD22TB4 eliminates the need for multiple adapters. The 90W power delivery is sufficient for most laptops, streamlining your desk setup. While it's not the cheapest option, the Dell WD22TB4's reliability, performance, and cross-platform compatibility make it a top choice for professionals seeking a seamless docking solution for both PC and MacBook Pro.

If you're on a budget, the Anker PowerExpand Elite 13-in-1 Thunderbolt 3 Dock is a great value pick that works with both PCs and Macs. You get:

  • 85W laptop charging
  • 13 ports including TB3, USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet, SD reader, and audio
  • Supports dual displays up to 4K 60Hz
  • 18 month warranty

I've found Anker docks to offer a lot of bang for the buck. This one is very full-featured for the price. The dual 4K60 display support is impressive. Definitely worth considering if you want to save some money vs other TB3 docks.

If you're looking for something portable, the OWC Thunderbolt 3 Mini Dock might be worth considering. It's compact enough to throw in your bag but still offers dual HDMI ports, USB-A, and Ethernet. It doesn't provide power delivery, so you'll need to use your laptop's charger separately, but it's a great option if you need something for travel or a minimal desk setup.
