I'm looking to clean up the cable clutter on my desk from connecting my laptop to multiple monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc. Does anyone have recommendations on good docking stations for home office setups? Ideally something that can support dual monitors, charges the laptop, and has a few USB ports. Let me know what has worked well for you!

If you're looking for a good docking station for your home office or work setup, here are a few recommendations:

  2. Dell WD19 - Dell's WD19 USB-C dock delivers up to 130W of power to charge your laptop while adding ports like HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-A, Ethernet, and audio. Supports dual 4K displays. Sturdy build quality.

  3. Anker PowerExpand Elite - 13-in-1 Thunderbolt 3 dock with 85W charging. Adds Thunderbolt 3, USB-A, USB-C, Ethernet, SD card slots, and audio ports. Can drive a single 5K display or dual 4K monitors. Compact design.

USB 3.0 Docking Stations

  1. Plugable UD-3900 - Affordable USB 3.0 docking station that provides HDMI and DVI video outputs, 6 USB ports, Ethernet, and audio jacks. Supports a single 1080p or 1440p display. Slim, vertical design.

  2. Kensington SD4600P - USB 3.0 dock with DisplayPort++ and HDMI ports for dual 1080p or single 4K video output. Also has 6 USB ports, Ethernet, and audio connections. 60W laptop charging.

  1. If you have a Dell laptop, the Dell WD19 Docking Station is a great choice. If you have a lot of peripherals and need a ton of ports, the Kensington SD5700T Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station is a beast. It has a staggering 11 ports including 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports, 4 USB-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet, an UHS-II SD card reader and a combo audio jack. It can drive up to three 4K displays at 60Hz or a single 8K display. 90W power delivery keeps even power-hungry laptops charged. It's pricey but a great option for power users.
