I'm planning to build a new gaming PC around the NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU. From the specs, it looks like an absolute beast for 4K gaming.
My question is - what CPU would you recommend to pair with the 4090 to avoid bottlenecks and maximize performance? I'm considering the Intel Core i9-14900K or AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D. Would either of those be good choices?
Also, is a high-end CPU even necessary with a GPU as powerful as the 4090?
Any advice on CPU selection would be much appreciated before I start purchasing components.

here are some considerations for choosing a suitable CPU:

Intel Core i9-13900K or i9-14900K
- These are Intel's top-of-the-line consumer CPUs with strong single-core performance
- High clock speeds and many cores provide excellent gaming performance
- The i9-14900K is expected to offer a moderate improvement over the i9-13900K

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D
- AMD's flagship consumer CPU, featuring 3D V-Cache technology for improved gaming performance
- Offers similar or slightly better gaming performance compared to Intel's i9 CPUs
- Provides excellent multi-core performance for productivity tasks
In terms of avoiding bottlenecks, both the i9-13900K/14900K and Ryzen 9 7950X3D are more than capable of keeping up with the RTX 4090 at 4K resolution. At such high resolutions, the GPU tends to be the primary factor limiting performance rather than the CPU.

Get 7800X3D or just waiting for ZEN 5, it will coming out in Q3 of 2024.

The new announced Ryzen 9 9950X is should be a good choice for GeForce RTX 4090.
