According to recent industry reports and leaked information from Benchlife, NVIDIA is preparing to launch its highly anticipated GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards in early 2025, with multiple models slated for release in the first quarter of the year.
The initial lineup is expected to include five primary models: the flagship RTX 5090, a region-specific RTX 5090 D variant, the RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070. Notably absent from the Q1 2025 launch window are the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060, which are expected to follow later in the year.
The RTX 5070 Ti is reportedly built around the GB203-300 GPU, featuring 8,960 CUDA cores and 16GB of next-generation GDDR7 memory. This model is expected to operate with a 300W Total Graphics Power (TGP) rating, representing a significant leap in performance potential over its predecessor.
Perhaps most interesting is the newly revealed specification for the RTX 5070, which will reportedly utilize the GB205 GPU architecture with 6,400 CUDA cores. This model is designed with a 250W TDP and will come equipped with 12GB of GDDR7 memory, positioning it as a strong mid-range contender in the lineup.
One notable observation from the leaked information is the absence of an RTX 5080 D variant, raising questions about NVIDIA's strategy regarding U.S. export restrictions. Whether this indicates the standard RTX 5080 already complies with regulations or suggests alternative plans remains unclear.
For the lower-tier cards, sources indicate that while the RTX 5070 series might debut around February 2025, the RTX 5060 launch could extend into March or April. Current information suggests that NVIDIA has not yet distributed RTX 5060 GPUs to board partners, indicating these timeframes might still be subject to change.
Looking ahead to CES 2025, industry insiders expect NVIDIA to make significant announcements regarding the RTX 50 series. While the RTX 5090 and 5080 are almost certainly going to be showcased, there's still uncertainty about whether both the 5070 Ti and 5070 will be featured at the event. However, at least one of these mid-range models is likely to be included in the presentation.
As with all pre-release information, these details should be treated as preliminary until official confirmation from NVIDIA. The specifications, launch dates, and model lineup may undergo adjustments as we approach the actual release window in early 2025.
Waiting for RTX 5090.
