I recently built a new gaming PC with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. Everything was working fine, but suddenly I started getting an "Error Code 43" message in Device Manager for the GPU. The card is no longer detected properly and games won't launch.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but the error keeps coming back. Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Reseat the graphics card:

    • Power off your PC and unplug the power cable
    • Open your case and locate the graphics card
    • Carefully remove the card from the PCIe slot
    • Check for any visible damage or debris in the slot or on the card connectors
    • Reinsert the card firmly, ensuring it's properly seated
    • Reconnect the power cables to the card (if applicable)
    • Close your case, reconnect power, and boot up your PC
  2. Perform a clean driver installation:

    • Download the latest drivers for your RTX 2060 from the NVIDIA website
    • Boot into Safe Mode (press F8 during startup and select Safe Mode)
    • Uninstall your current graphics drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)
    • Reboot your PC and install the downloaded drivers
  3. Check your power supply (PSU):

    • Ensure your PSU provides sufficient power for your graphics card
    • The RTX 2060 typically requires a 500W+ PSU with an 8-pin PCIe power connector
    • If using a power adapter/splitter, try connecting the card directly to the PSU
  4. Test the card in another system:

    • If possible, remove the RTX 2060 and test it in a different PC
    • This can help determine if the issue is with the card itself or your system
  5. Check for BIOS updates:

    • Visit your motherboard manufacturer's website and check for any relevant BIOS updates
    • A BIOS update may resolve compatibility issues or bugs related to PCIe devices

If none of the above steps resolve the Error Code 43, it's possible the graphics card may be faulty. In this case, you might need to consider an RMA (return merchandise authorization) with the retailer or manufacturer for a replacement.

@nasenm Thanks, I just checked BIOS and updated, seems no problems now.

Error Code 43 usually indicates a driver or hardware issue. Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove the current drivers, then download and install the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website.
  2. Reseat the graphics card to ensure it's properly connected to the PCIe slot.
  3. Check that the card's power connectors are securely plugged in.
  4. Try the card in a different PCIe slot if possible.
