Good question! While NVIDIA hasn't officially announced anything about the RTX 5070 yet, we can make some educated guesses based on their previous release cycles. Typically, they introduce a new generation of GPUs every two years, so if the RTX 40 series launched in late 2022 or early 2023, we might see the RTX 5070 sometime in late 2024 or early 2025 at the earliest.

As for specs, it's hard to say for sure, but we can expect significant performance improvements over the RTX 4070. NVIDIA has been making impressive strides in ray tracing performance with each generation, so the RTX 5070 might offer even better real-time ray tracing capabilities. We could also see improvements in areas like DLSS, tensor cores, and overall efficiency. Of course, all of this is just speculation until NVIDIA reveals more information.

Here's my wild guess/prediction: The RTX 5070 will launch in Q4 2024 or Q1 2025, with the following tentative specs:

  • Based on the next-gen "Blackwell" architecture
  • Roughly 20-25% faster rasterization performance than the RTX 4070
  • 40-50% improved ray tracing performance compared to the RTX 4070
  • Support for DLSS 4.0 or whatever the next iteration of NVIDIA's upscaling technology is called
  • Improved tensor cores for better AI and machine learning workloads
  • More efficient power consumption, possibly with a TDP around 250W or lower

Of course, take this with a massive grain of salt, as it's just pure speculation on my part. But if NVIDIA can deliver those kinds of improvements over the already impressive RTX 4070, the 5070 could be an incredible value proposition for gamers and creators alike.
