I'm looking to put together an Intel 13th gen system with a Z790 motherboard that supports DDR5. Speed and performance are my top priorities for memory. Ideally looking for DDR5-5600 or faster speeds with low latency CL32 or under. RGB lighting would be nice to have as well. What specific DDR5 RAM kits and brands do you all recommend? I see Corsair, G.Skill, and Kingston among others but not sure what the difference really is or what would provide the fastest speeds for things like gaming, video editing, and 3D modeling work. Appreciate any DDR5 RAM suggestions or advice!

When choosing DDR5 RAM, G.Skill, Corsair, Teamgroup, Crucial and Kingston are all solid brands to consider. For optimal gaming, go with a 2x16GB kit at 6000MHz CL30. However, focus less on brands and more on your motherboard's QVL for tested compatibility. The QVL lists specific memory configurations validated to work. Kits not on the list may still work, but have not been tested, especially on older boards. For most boards, 6000MHz DDR5 currently offers the best balance of gaming performance and value.

So in summary - choose a reputable 16GBx2 DDR5-6000 CL30 kit from brands like G.Skill and Corsair, but refer to your motherboard QVL for guaranteed compatibility.

@nkhop For brand, I prefer the G.Skill. Used G.Skill RAM for over ten years, from DDR3 to latest DDR5, never has any problems.

@nkhop For AMD Ryzen 9000 series users: G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd., the world’s leading brand of performance overclock memory and PC components, is excited to announce an ultra-low latency specification of DDR5-6000 CL28-36-36-96 in 32GB (2x16GB) and 64GB (2x32GB) kit capacities, and DDR5-6000 CL28-38-38-96 in 48GB (2x24GB) and 96GB (2x48GB) kit capacities under the new Trident Z5 Royal Neo series, designed for compatible AMD AM5 platforms. Including AMD EXPO technology for an easy memory overclock experience in BIOS, this overclock performance memory kit with low timing is the ideal DDR5 memory solution for enthusiasts and overclockers.

Hello! I'd be happy to help you find the right DDR5 RAM kit for your Intel 13th gen system with a Z790 motherboard.

Based on your requirements, here are some DDR5 RAM kits that support DDR5-5600 or faster speeds with low latency CL32 or under, and also have RGB lighting:

  1. Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM:
    • Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR5-5600 (2x 16GB) - $129.99
    • Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR5-5800 (2x 16GB) - $149.99
    • Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR5-6000 (2x 16GB) - $179.99
  2. G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5 RAM:
    • G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-5600 (2x 16GB) - $139.99
    • G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-5800 (2x 16GB) - $159.99
    • G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-6000 (2x 16GB) - $189.99
  3. Kingston Fury DDR5 RAM:
    • Kingston Fury DDR5-5600 (2x 16GB) - $129.99
    • Kingston Fury DDR5-5800 (2x 16GB) - $149.99
    • Kingston Fury DDR5-6000 (2x 16GB) - $179.99

All of these DDR5 RAM kits have low latency CL32 or under, and they all support speeds of DDR5-5600 or faster. Additionally, they all have RGB lighting, which can enhance the overall look and feel of your system.

In terms of the differences between the brands, Corsair, G.Skill, and Kingston are all well-known and reputable brands in the memory industry. They all offer high-quality products with good performance and reliability. However, some users may prefer one brand over the other based on factors such as price, aesthetics, and customer support.

Ultimately, the best DDR5 RAM kit for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences. If you're looking for the fastest speeds, you may want to consider the Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR5-6000 or G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-6000, which both offer speeds of up to DDR5-6000. If you're looking for a more affordable option, the Kingston Fury DDR5-5600 may be a good choice.

Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 is my top pick. I went with the 5600MHz CL36 kit, and it's been excellent. Overclocks well if you're into tweaking, and the build quality is superb. Plus, the Dominator design is iconic if you care about aesthetics.

I've had great results with the Kingston Fury Beast DDR5-6000. It's a solid performer with good stability, and it's priced competitively. The heatspreader design is also pretty sleek if aesthetics matter to you.

If you're an overclocker, the G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR5-6000 CL32 kit is worth looking at. It has tight timings out of the box and responds well to tweaking. Just be prepared to spend some time dialing in your settings for optimal performance.
