I just upgraded to Intel's new flagship Core i9-14900KS processor for my high-end gaming/video editing rig. This 24-core beast is an absolute monster, but I want to make sure I pair it with the right RAM kit to get maximum performance.
For the 14900KS, I'd definitely go with a high-speed DDR5 kit, even with the premium pricing. This is a halo CPU for enthusiasts, so you'll want to pair it with cutting-edge RAM.
I'm running mine with a 32GB (2x16GB) G.Skill Trident Z5 Royal Series DDR5-6400 CL32 kit and it's been flawless. The infinitely scalable fabric of DDR5 really lets this CPU shine.
If you want to save some cash, you can certainly run a nice DDR4 kit like the G.Skill Trident Z Royal 3600MHz CL16 and still get great performance. The difference between DDR4 and DDR5 for gaming/normal desktop use isn't huge yet.
But since you've already spent big on the 14900KS, I'd vote going DDR5 to make sure you're squeezing every last drop of performance out of that beast. Maybe look at 32GB DDR5-5200 kits as a nice price/performance sweet spot.
The new released G.SKILL Trident Z5 Royal Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM is the best choice for 14900KS.
For what it's worth, I'm running the 14900KS with 32GB of Crucial DDR5-4800 CL38 and have had zero issues. The Crucial kits tend to fly under the radar but their DDR5 offerings seem great for the money.
I game at 4K and do video editing/3D work, and haven't felt memory starved at all with 32GB. Unless you're doing heavyweight production tasks all day, 64GB might be overkill.
G.Skill Trident Z5 Series is a great choice for 14900KS
