What do you think is the best 1440p gaming monitor available? I'm looking for something with a high refresh rate, low response time, and great color accuracy. G-Sync or FreeSync compatibility would be a plus. My budget is flexible, but I'd like to get the best value for money. Has anyone had experience with the latest models from ASUS, LG, or Samsung? Are there any upcoming releases I should wait for?

@chloe61 I've been using the ROG Swift PG27AQDM for a while now, and I have to say, it's an absolute beast when it comes to 1440p gaming monitors.

Here's my take on the current 1440p gaming monitor landscape:

The MSI MPG 271QRX QD-OLED stands out as the top choice, offering an impressive 360Hz refresh rate and outstanding picture quality thanks to its QD-OLED panel. For gamers wanting top-tier performance without breaking the bank, the ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG at 240Hz is a solid alternative - you get slightly lower refresh rate but still excellent OLED picture quality.

For mid-range options, the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM offers good value with its 240Hz IPS panel and native G-SYNC support. The LG 27GR83Q-B is a great lower mid-range pick with similar specs minus some premium features.

What's interesting is how competitive the budget segment has become. The AOC Q27G3XMN provides exceptional value with its Mini LED backlighting and 180Hz refresh rate. And for those on a tight budget, the Dell G2725D at 180Hz delivers solid gaming performance despite some picture quality compromises.

The market seems to be dividing between premium OLED/QD-OLED options and more affordable IPS/VA panels. While the high-end models offer incredible picture quality and performance, there are now very capable budget options that can satisfy most gamers' needs without requiring a huge investment.

I've been using the LG 27GP850-B for the past six months, and I can confidently say it's one of the best 1440p gaming monitors out there. It checks all your boxes:

  • 1440p resolution
  • 165Hz refresh rate (can be overclocked to 180Hz)
  • 1ms GTG response time
  • Nano IPS panel for excellent color accuracy
  • G-Sync and FreeSync compatible

The color accuracy is fantastic, and the high refresh rate makes gameplay buttery smooth. It's also reasonably priced for its features. Highly recommend checking it out!

I'm a big fan of the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM. It's on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for. 240Hz refresh rate, G-Sync Ultimate, and excellent build quality. The IPS panel has great viewing angles and color reproduction. If budget isn't a concern, this is my top pick for 2024.
