I recently built a new PC with an AMD processor and motherboard. I want to ensure I have the latest AMD chipset drivers installed for optimal performance and compatibility.

Could someone please guide me on how to check the currently installed version of the AMD chipset drivers on my system? I'm running Windows 10 64-bit.

Also, if I find that my drivers are outdated, what's the best way to update them? Should I download them directly from the AMD website, or is there a built-in utility that can handle the update process?

To check your currently installed driver version:

  1. Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager)

  2. Expand the "Processors" section

  3. Double-click on "AMD Processor"

  4. Go to the Driver tab and note down the driver version, date, etc.

To update your drivers:

  1. Go to AMD's website and navigate to the Chipset Drivers page for your specific CPU model (e.g. Ryzen 5000 series)

  2. Download the latest driver installer package

  3. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts

  4. Restart your PC when prompted

  5. Go back to Device Manager and verify the driver updated to the newer version

I recommend getting the drivers directly from AMD rather than relying on Windows Update. The AMD website always has the newest chipset drivers available.

The installer package handles the update process automatically, so it's simple and hassle-free. Just download, run, and restart.

You can use a third-party tool like CPU-Z to check your AMD chipset driver version:

  1. Download and install CPU-Z ( https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html )
  2. Run CPU-Z and go to the "Mainboard" tab
  3. Look for the "Southbridge" or "Chipset" entry
  4. The driver version should be listed there

This method is helpful if you want to get detailed information about your system components in addition to the chipset driver version.

If you've already installed the AMD Chipset Drivers, you can check the version in Control Panel:

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Go to "Programs and Features"
  3. Look for "AMD Chipset Software" in the list
  4. The version number should be displayed next to it
