I'm planning to build a new gaming rig around the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, and I'm struggling to choose the perfect motherboard. I'm looking for a board that can fully utilize this beast of a CPU while providing excellent features and future-proofing.

My priorities are strong VRM for potential overclocking, PCIe 5.0 support, and good connectivity options. I'm considering both X670E and B650E chipsets but unsure which is the better choice. My budget is flexible, but I'd like to stay under $400 if possible.

What are your recommendations for the best motherboard to pair with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D? Any specific models or brands you've had great experiences with? Thanks in advance for your insights!

I have ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS WiFi for several months, works well. This is my second ASUS TUF MB that I have the pleasure of buying. The first is still working great and this one is perfect.

Any B650 motherboard are OK for 7800X3D. I prefer that MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi. This motherboard offers exceptional connectivity and user-friendly installation. Its affordable price point includes features like triple NVMe slots. When properly configured, it delivers impressive performance and rapid boot times. BIOS updates are straightforward, and the aesthetically pleasing design adds to its appeal. Totally love it.

@kvvv1 A bit over $400. You may also take a look at X670E-F: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BDTK4SLH/?tag=6890-20&th=1

@kvvv1 Don't pay so much on MB, you can use extra money for a better GPU.

Don't speed over $400 on motherboard for 7800X3D. Cheap motherboards also works well for 7800X3D.

ROG Strix X670E-E Gaming WiFi is overall one of the best gaming motherboards for 7800X3D. This motherboard has exceeded expectations, performing flawlessly. The VRM sensor remains cool, not exceeding 55°C even with a 7950x at full capacity. It boasts an abundance of I/O options, including numerous USB ports and headers. The onboard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth offer excellent connectivity and range.

While some reviews critique its understated aesthetics, the board can still appear quite striking when paired with a CPU cooler and RAM. At this price point, additional RGB headers would be a welcome addition.

The onboard LAN and Wi-Fi work perfectly, but be aware that some drivers install silently, taking effect only after a restart. For convenience, you can use Asus Armory Crate for automatic driver installation.

I use Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX for my 7800X3D, no issue.

If you're looking for the best motherboard to pair with your AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, you've got several excellent options depending on your needs and budget. Here's a breakdown of some top choices:

  1. Editor's Choice: ASRock X670E Taichi This premium EATX motherboard is a powerhouse, featuring a massive 24+2+1 VRM power stage. It's loaded with cutting-edge tech, including two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and a PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD socket. With 2.5GbE wired and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity, plus ten USB ports (two of which are USB4), it's a fantastic all-rounder. Priced at $410 on Newegg, it's a solid investment for high-end builds.

  2. Best Value: GIGABYTE B650 AORUS Elite AX If you're budget-conscious but still want great performance, this motherboard is an excellent choice at $230. It boasts a 14+2+1 VRM power stage and 8+4 EPS sockets, providing clean power for gaming. Its understated design with subtle RGB accents is perfect for showcasing other components.

  3. Premium Pick: ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero For those wanting the absolute best, this $640 motherboard delivers. It features two PCIe 5.0 and two PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD slots, hidden behind stylish heatsinks. It also supports high-speed RAM in all four slots.

  4. Best Mini-ITX: MSI MPG B650I EDGE WIFI Building a compact system? This $300 motherboard packs a punch with its 10-layer PCB and 8+2+1 VRM power design rated at 80A. It offers ample storage options despite its small size.

  5. Best Budget mATX: ASRock B650M PG Riptide WiFi At just $170, this mATX board offers great value with its 12+2+1 power stage, PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 M.2 slots, and support for up to 7,200MHz DDR5.

Each of these motherboards would pair well with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, so your choice ultimately depends on your specific needs, budget, and future upgrade plans. Consider factors like form factor, connectivity options, and overclocking potential when making your decision.

I have MSI MPG B650 Edge WiFi, no issue yet for 2 months, and the boot time is very fast. Love it.

B650 motherboards are OK for 7800X3D. Don't pay more for X670 motherboards.

You don't need to go higher than the B650 chipset for a motherboard. Its features are sufficient. The X670 is overpriced; although some X670 boards cost around 200240, the B650 is more budget-friendly, averaging 140180.

Under $400, I think MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi is a good choice. The motherboard proved compatible with my Ryzen 9 7900X3D, offering seamless performance. BIOS flashing was quick and effortless using the dedicated flash button. A standout feature is the hybrid graphics mode in the BIOS, which allows users to optimize for either performance or power efficiency. While the overall experience has been positive, the only minor drawback I've noticed is a slightly extended boot time compared to my previous setup. Despite this, the motherboard's benefits far outweigh this small inconvenience.

I've been using MSI motherboards for years, including the B650 Tomahawk, with great satisfaction. Long boot times can be resolved by disabling Memory Context Restore in BIOS.

My experience with Asus has been mixed. I'm still waiting on a cashback after four months, and some products seem overpriced compared to similar quality alternatives. However, they do offer reasonably priced options as well.

I've avoided Gigabyte boards due to reports of coil whine issues.

As a European, I have limited experience with NZXT hardware due to its scarcity here, but their pricing appears to be on the higher side.

Most PC gamers will use B650 motherboard.
