Hey all, I'm planning an upcoming build with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU and the recently released RX 7900 GRE GPU from AMD. I'm a bit unsure what power supply to get for this combo. The 7900 GRE has a total board power of 260W according to the specs. And while the 5600X is pretty efficient, I know I'll also need some headroom for other components. I'm looking to get a high quality PSU in the 750W-850W range. Brands I'm considering are Seasonic, EVGA, Corsair, etc. What are your recommendations for a solid PSU that can handle this GPU while having a bit of headroom? I don't plan on overclocking at the moment.
For that combo, I'd recommend going with at least an 850W unit from a top tier manufacturer. The EVGA SuperNOVA 850 GT or Seasonic Focus PX-850 Platinum would both be excellent choices that will give you enough headroom.
Alongside the GPU's high power draw, you have to account for the CPU pulling potentially over 100W under load, plus other components like storage, RGB/fans, potential future upgrades, etc. 750W could work for stock settings, but 850W is a safer bet if you want to avoid hitting power limits.
MSI MPG A850G PCIE 5 & ATX 3.0 Gaming Power Supply is another great PSU for this combo.
If you want to save a few bucks, the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 850W is also a solid option around $120-130. It's fully modular, 80+ Gold, with 10 year warranty. Not quite on the super premium level as something like the G6 or RMx but still a reliable, high quality PSU that can handle the 7900 GRE.
I use the MSI MAG 850GL on RX 7900 XT, works stable.
