I'm planning to build a new gaming PC with an RTX 4080 SUPER and a 7800X3D processor. I want to ensure that I have a reliable and efficient power supply unit (PSU) to support these high-end components.

Considering the power requirements of the GPU and CPU, as well as potential overclocking, what would be the best PSU for this setup? I'm looking for a high-quality unit with enough wattage headroom and good efficiency ratings.

Additionally, are there any specific brands or models that you would recommend based on your experience or knowledge? I want to invest in a PSU that will provide stable power delivery and last for several years.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions and insights!

I think a 850W PSU is enough for this combo.

For example:

Choose any of these you like.

@i8-k4 I love the RM850e, this fantastic modular power supply unit offers incredible versatility with its customizable cable configurations. It delivers exceptional performance, effortlessly powering all components while maintaining minimal heat output and operating at whisper-quiet levels, perfect for my meticulously tuned, noise-optimized setup. While it may lack the flashy RGB lighting found in some models, this PSU more than makes up for it with its rock-solid internal construction and forward-thinking compatibility with Corsair's extensive range of modular cables. Thanks to this power supply, my system runs with unparalleled stability, ample wattage, and optimal efficiency.

An 850W power supply should be plenty for an RTX 4080 SUPER paired with a 7800X3D. I'm running a similar setup with an 850W Corsair RMx and have had no issues. The RMx line is fully modular, 80+ Gold certified, and uses high-quality Japanese capacitors. Corsair's 10-year warranty is also a nice bonus.

If you want some extra headroom for overclocking or future upgrades, a quality 1000W unit like the Seasonic Focus Plus Gold or EVGA G3 would also be a great choice. But for most users, 850W is a good sweet spot for high-end components.

750W PSU is also enough for most RTX 4080 SUPER build.

I'm extremely impressed with the RM1000e. The power delivery is stable, it runs cool and quiet, and the fully modular cables were great to work with. If you have a high-end system that demands a top quality 1000W PSU, the RM1000e is an excellent choice. Just be prepared to pay a premium price for a premium product.

I use the Thermaltake GF1 850W for the same build, no issues.

EVGA 1000 G5 is a good 1000W PSU for this combo.
