I recently snagged an ASUS ROG Strix 4090, and I'm looking to upgrade my power supply to ensure optimal performance. What's the best PSU for this beast of a GPU? I've heard conflicting recommendations ranging from 850W to 1200W. Should I go for a Platinum or Titanium rating? Any specific brands or models you'd recommend?
With a 4090, you definitely want to err on the side of caution when it comes to power. I'd suggest going for a 1200W PSU to give yourself plenty of headroom for future upgrades and peace of mind.
As for efficiency, Platinum is more than sufficient. The difference between Platinum and Titanium is minimal in real-world usage, so unless you're extremely concerned about power efficiency, Platinum will serve you well.
For brands, you can't go wrong with be quiet!, EVGA, or Corsair. Specifically, the be quiet! Dark Power Pro 12 1200W, Corsair RM1200x Shift or ROG Thor 1200W Platinum II are all excellent choices that will handle your 4090 with ease.
1000W PSU is enough, and 1200W+ is ideal for future upgrade.
