Hey everyone, I'm building a new PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 8700G processor and I'm looking for recommendations on the best SSD to pair with it. I'll be using the PC mainly for gaming and some video editing. Budget is flexible but ideally under $200 for a 1TB drive. What are your suggestions?
I use Crucial T700 1TB Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD, it's really fast.
- BLISTERING SPEEDS: Get sequential reads/writes of up to 11,700/9500MB/s and random read/writes of up to 1,500K IOPS** for blazing performance
- ULTIMATE GAMING & CREATIVITY: With Microsoft DirectStorage, elevate gaming with up to 60% faster texture renders8 and reduced load times, render photos or UHD/8K+ videos and run heavy workloads with up to 99% less CPU utilization********
- COMPATIBLE: Ready for performance with your motherboard heatsink*, the T700 installs easily in your M.2 slot. (T700 must be installed with a heatsink and access to appropriate airflow)
- INNOVATION: Produced in house with the Micron 232-layer TLC NAND3 for Intel 13th Gen and AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs
- SPACIOUS: Store more games, UHD/8K+ media, apps, files and more with up to 4TB***** of capacity
For the best performance, I'd recommend going with a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD since your Ryzen 7 8700G supports that. The Samsung 980 PRO and Western Digital SN850 are two of the top choices and provide incredible speeds. A 1TB 980 PRO is around $180.
The Samsung 980 PRO SSD is still a great one for 8700G.
Why not try some pcie 5 ssd
If you don't need the absolute fastest speeds, a reliable PCIe 3.0 SSD like the SK Hynix Gold P31 is also a solid choice.
