I'm looking to upgrade my NAS with an SSD cache to improve performance. However, I'm concerned about finding a stable solution that can handle continuous operation without degrading quickly. Additionally, heat management is a priority since my NAS is in a relatively warm environment.

Can anyone recommend a reliable SSD for NAS caching that remains stable under heavy workloads and doesn't generate excessive heat? I'm particularly interested in models with good thermal management and longevity. What has been your experience with different SSDs in terms of stability and heat output when used for NAS caching?

Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

WD Red SN700 is one of the best choice for NAS Cache.

Avoid consumer-grade SSDs for NAS systems. Instead, opt for NAS-specific drives from reputable brands like Seagate, Western Digital (WD), or Synology. These specialized drives are designed to handle the demands of continuous operation in network storage environments.

You'd better to get WD Red SN700.

I've had great success with the Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD for NAS caching. It has excellent endurance ratings and manages heat well. I've been using it for over a year in my Synology NAS with no issues, even in a warm server room. The built-in thermal throttling helps prevent overheating.
