I'm looking to upgrade the SSD in my Tesla Model 3 for better performance with the dashcam and Sentry Mode features. I've heard that a high-quality SSD can make a big difference in reliability and longevity, especially given the frequent read/write cycles these features demand.
I'm wondering what SSDs you all recommend based on your experiences. I'm particularly interested in:
I've been looking at options like the Samsung T7, SanDisk Extreme Portable, and some rugged models from LaCie. Are these good choices, or are there better alternatives?
Also, has anyone tried using an NVMe SSD with a USB enclosure instead of a traditional portable SSD? I'm curious if this setup offers any advantages.
Lastly, any tips for optimal SSD management to prolong its life in a Tesla would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your insights!
I've been using the Samsung T7 1TB for about a year now in my Model Y, and it's been fantastic. The read/write speeds are more than sufficient for Sentry Mode and dashcam footage. I've had zero compatibility issues, and it's held up well to Arizona summer heat.
A few tips:
Overall, I highly recommend the Samsung T7. It's reliable, fast, and hasn't let me down yet.
If you're on a budget, the PNY Elite-X Portable SSD is a great option. It's affordable, reasonably fast, and has worked reliably in my Model S for dashcam and Sentry mode recordings.
I also recommended the Samsung T7 SSD.
1TB SSD is enough for recording.
