I'm building a new gaming PC with an Intel Core i7-14700K processor. What is the best RAM to pair with this CPU for optimal performance? Should I go with DDR5 or is DDR4 sufficient? What speeds and capacities do you recommend? Thanks for any advice!

DDR5-6000 CL30 is a good choice.

@easy Yes, I agree, seems the sweet spot for 14700K.

@easy Or you can get DDR5 6400 or 7200, also runs well on Intel.

I would choose DDR5 RAM, and I use GSKILL Trident Z5 RGB series.

some top options:

  1. Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 (5600 MHz):

    • Gen: DDR5
    • Capacity: 32 GB (2 x 16 GB)
    • Frequency: 5600 MHz
    • Latency: 13 ns (CL36)
    • Timings: 36-36-36-76
    • This RAM is an excellent choice for professionals and gamers. It provides robust support for demanding tasks like gaming, content creation, and video editing. The aluminum heatsinks ensure exceptional thermal performance, and the Intel XMP 3.0 profile ensures compatibility with Intel processors.
  2. G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 (6000 MHz):

    • Gen: DDR5
    • Capacity: 32 GB (2 x 16 GB)
    • Frequency: 6000 MHz
    • Latency: 12 ns (CL36)
    • Timings: 36-36-36-96
    • If you want the ability to overclock your RAM to higher speeds, the G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB is a superb option for pairing with the i7-14700K CPU.
  3. Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (3200 MHz):

    • Gen: DDR4
    • Capacity: Varies
    • Frequency: 3200 MHz
    • Latency: Varies
    • Timings: Varies
    • While DDR5 is the latest, DDR4 is still a viable option. The Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (3200 MHz) is a good stock-speed choice for the i7-14700K.

DDR5 is now more recommended than DDR4. For example, G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5.

For DDR4, get 3600 and CL16.
